It’s not even close to time to panic yet, but you should be very concerned. As the new decade goes it was not so long ago when Y2K was the biggest, not yet really in your face, semi-mystery concern of the day. It was just maybe going to happen and no one seemed to know exactly what to think or do. Then the techo-wizards around the world, like Santa’s little helpers, seemed to ban together in a secret clan and fixed the problem.
For awhile I felt like (most everyone I know) what’s the big worry and even if this is as bad as some say, what can just one person really do? Then it started to dawn on me, my late mothers words ringing in my ears, “ your either part of the problem or part of the solution”. Suddenly that short point seems to resonate loud and clear. After all, it’s a bunch of individuals, acting independently, that helped gradually create the problem (Global Warming).
Clearly the weather around the planet has changed and the geography below it suffers the process. I doubt if any of this marks the impending doom of the planet, however “Homo Sapiens” could be in for some very rough times. History is pretty graphic, in as much as what we think we know, that carbon base life forms have always been subject to general changes in the weather, drastic or not. Now, with so many of us trying to support a lifestyle all at the same time even small historical markers or shifts in weather trends have significant impact. Nothing like a drought or flood to really inconvenience a population base.

To think that something as simple as greenhouse gases (over the last 150 years or so) and a general disregard for nature and common sense is the primary culprit is really disturbing. But at least this would imply that what we’ve broken we can fix (to some degree). That truly does remain to be seen, however I choose to believe that thinking positive and consciously being part of the solution is the one and only way to go. To just sit around and obsess about the past or just give up and not change a thing, is not only very selfish, it directly helps steal a robust and prosperous future from every person under the age of 2 years old (at the current pace many existing natural resources will run out before this age group gets out of college). It is the current high-school and college age population (world-wide) that will have to act effectively and promptly, via sound actions and many tough decisions, to make sure that the worlds economy isn’t ruined from Climate related events (for all but a select few) over the next 20 years.
It’s no longer about what can I do to start making a cute, trendy little Green lifestyle work, we are way past that. Now, more than every before, in modern history it is mandatory to think of GREEN (and all that implies) as your NORMAL WAY of LIFE !!
